Metal technician apprenticeships at Hellmerich

Apprenticeships at Hellmerich

Mechanical Engineering and Machining Technology are the two main modules of the metal technician apprenticeships we provide, which take 3.5 years.

If you are technically minded, reliable, good with your hands, and enjoy a challenge, we would love to receive an application from you!

Your Areas of Responsibility:

  • Turning, milling and grinding
  • Assembly
  • Quality assurance 

Your apprenticeship at Hellmerich will be varied and will give you insight into all production-related areas. Each year of the apprenticeship you will get the chance to take courses covering different areas (e.g. turning or milling, 4–5 weeks per year) at a professional academy.

Upon successful completion of the apprenticeship, you will be given a permanent role at the company.

Engineering at Hellmerich

Development & Design 

As a developer and designer for us, a certain amount of your time will be spent working in our company’s technological “delivery suite.” Your tasks will include not only drafting, designing, and constructing our products, but also developing new ideas.

Do you like puzzling over new technical concepts without compromising on the details? Do you love to keep track of your new ideas as they evolve from the initial sketch to the finished product, with all the associated hurdles to overcome in between? Your Tasks

  • Developing new technical concepts
  • Working with customers on technical aspects of their projects
  • Looking after technical aspects of production and assembly
  • Helping the sales team with project inquiries

 

 

Sales at Hellmerich

Sales

As a member of the sales team at Hellmerich, you will act as the public face of our company. Your work will involve not only securing new orders, but also acting as a main point of contact for our existing customers.      

If you are a likable character, communicative, and extremely reliable, and also enjoy working closely with the customer and providing technical advice face-to-face, then we’d love to hear from you!

Your Tasks

  • Securing new business and looking after existing customers
  • Observing the market and conducting competitive analyses
  • Meeting customers and taking part in trade shows
  • Preparing costings and quotes
  • Creating technical concepts together with the relevant departments
  • Conducting sales negotiations
  • Coordinating projects and seeing them through to completion

 

 

Job preparation, production and assembly

Production

There are many individual stages involved in our own in-house production of precision components.

If you are good with your hands, have an eye for detail, and love being very particular in your work, we recommend that you apply to work in one of the following areas:

Job Preparation

  • Creating work slips
  • Setting the process sequence
  • Calculating machining times
  • Obtaining quotes for external production
  • Creating costings for job order production

Production

  • Operating and programming state-of-the-art 3-axis and 5-axis CNC machines
  • Turning, milling, grinding, jig boring
  • Working with the latest CAM connections
  • Producing individual parts and small batches

Assembly

  • Assembling special machine tools, prototypes, and units
  • Advising designers with questions about assembly
